Fun, safety, quality, and a never-ending sense of humour is what sets us apart at TAKE OFF, and everything we do is centred around that. Our laid back approach is at the core of our service because we want outdoor adventure to be available to everyone who wants to experience true Canadian beauty.
We’re all a bunch of grown-up kids from the 70’s and 80’s, and we fondly remember a time when you could play outside past dark, when there were no cell phones and no internet, and when you could go camping or to the lake or on a bike ride whenever you wanted. You just... well... went.
There was a freedom that we want to bring back for our customers. We want to use our experience and knowledge to help others lead an active lifestyle, and we’d like to connect our community at large to those same principles.
Our approach to business is laid back, friendly, fun, a little bit silly, and welcoming to everyone who wants to discover what our beautiful country has to offer.
We love the outdoors, we respect the earth, and we’re passionate about caring for it. We want to enrich the areas we visit, not just use them up. That means being community-minded, living and playing locally, volunteering, and working to make our area more bike-friendly.
More than anything, we want everyone to have a good time outside, and that’s why we started Take Off. Because not everyone is lucky enough to live in a wild paradise year-round. We believe if we provide you with the tools, then you can let your own adventurous spirit do the rest.

Our location in Coombs is right in the middle of the island, which means we’re positioned to take advantage of everything this region has to offer. We’re near the ocean, lakes, parks, beaches, resort areas, and we’re on the main route to some of the best places on the island—like Port Alberni, Ucluelet and Tofino (for all the surfers out there), Courtney, Comox, Cumberland, North Island, and more!
Our headquarters are conveniently located directly across from the new Coombs to Parksville Rail Trail, as well as country roads that lead to idyllic settings.

We are honoured by the privilege to operate our business and recreate on the traditional territories of the Qualicum, Snaw-Naw-As and K'omoks First Nations. We contribute to Raven Trust which supports Indigenous justice and environmental protection.
Of course we need to buy the things for you to be able rent the things! In our own lives we try to get the most use out of products and generally will keep things long past the replacement period. In Take Off we strive to source quality products from environmentally aware companies that will last and have many lives. We even employ quality “experienced” items in our rental fleet to try and lessen our impact. We are here to make the community better so we try to source local products and services whenever available, suitable and practical.
Our funky space has been outfitted with salvaged wood, covered in no-VOC paint and lit up with efficient lighting. We will be installing an electric car charging station and solar panels.
We limit waste in our shop by reducing and re-using, and then recycling. We have a re-fill station for water bottles and encourage our customers to bring in their own. We use local companies to re-fill our natural cleaning products.
Each day will bring new opportunities for improving our practices!
We are active members in our community and contribute to events, performances, fundraisers, trail building and raising community minded children. This venture gives us a new way to contribute through employment opportunities, low impact tourism, and supporting other local businesses.
Let’s see more folks on two wheels! Take Off Adventure Rentals will be involved in making Coombs and Errington more bike friendly and bike safe. We want bike sightings to be as common as roaming cows, horses and goats!
